นางพญางูขาว (อังกฤษ: Legend of the White Snake, Madame White Snake, Lady White Snake ; จีนตัวย่อ: 白蛇传; จีนตัวเต็ม: 白蛇傳) เป็นนิทานพื้นบ้านของชาวเมืองหังโจว หรือหางโจว ถูกนำไปดัดแปลงเป็นภาพยนตร์หลายครั้ง อีกทั้งยังเคยถูกสร้างเป็นภาพยนตร์อะนิเมะ ซึ่งถือเป็นภาพยนตร์อะนิเมะเรื่องยาวเรื่องแรกของญี่ปุ่นด้วย[ต้องการอ้างอิง]

นางพญางูขาวปรากฏโฉมครั้งแรกในวรรณกรรม จองจำงูขาวชั่วนิรันดร์ในเจดีย์เหลยเฟิง (白娘子永鎮雷峰塔) ในบันทึกจิ่งซื่อทงเหยียน (警世通言) ของเฝิง เมิ่ง หลง (馮夢龍) โดยบันทึกดังกล่าวถูกค้นพบในระหว่างยุคราชวงศ์หมิง (ค.ศ. 1368 - ค.ศ. 1644)
นางพญางูขาว กล่าวถึงเรื่องราวของบัณฑิตหนุ่มที่ตกหลุมรักสตรีผู้โสภานางหนึ่ง สตรีผู้นี้แท้จริงแล้วเป็นปิศาจงูขาวที่จำแลงกายมา พระเถระมีความต้องการช่วยเหลือบัณฑิตหนุ่มให้พ้นจากการดูดกลืนวิญญาณของปิศาจงูขาว จึงได้ต่อสู้กับปิศาจงูขาว และจับนางไปจองจำไว้ใต้เจดีย์เหลยเฟิง (ฟ้าคำรณ)
เมื่อกาลเวลาผ่านไป ได้มีการเพิ่มเติมเสริมแต่งรายละเอียดต่างๆ มากขึ้น โดยนางพญางูขาวได้กลายเป็นตำนานความรักอันลึกซึ้งระหว่างบัณฑิตหนุ่ม กับปิศาจงูขาว ซึ่งบำเพ็ญตบะมาเป็นระยะเวลากว่า 1,000 ปี ได้จำแลงกายเป็นมนุษย์ในรูปของหญิงสาวที่มีรูปร่างหน้าตางดงาม มีนามว่า ไป๋ซู่เจิน ความรักของทั้งสองถูกขัดขวางโดยพระเถระฝาไห่ (ธรรมสาคร) เนื่องจากความรักระหว่างคนกับปิศาจไม่อาจอยู่ร่วมกันได้ เพราะผิดกฎสวรรค์ แต่ละเรื่องราวก็มีตอนจบและรายละเอียดอื่นๆ แตกต่างกันออกไปเช่นเดียวกัน เช่น บางเรื่องกล่าวว่างูขาวเป็นสัตว์เลี้ยงที่บัณฑิตเลี้ยงไว้ขณะยังเป็นร่ำเรียนหนังสือ หรือบางเรื่องก็เล่าว่าบัณฑิตหนุ่มถูกขับไล่จากสวรรค์ให้ลงมาเป็นมนุษย์ธรรมดา หรือแม้แต่บัณฑิตหนุ่มเคยช่วยชีวิตงูขาวเอาไว้ งูขาวจึงจำแลงกายกลับมาตอบแทนบุญคุณก็มี
ส่วน เสี่ยวชิง ซึ่งเป็นตัวละครที่ถูกเพิ่มเติมขึ้นมา ก็มีการกล่าวถึงในแง่มุมที่แตกต่างกันออกไปเช่นกัน โดยมีทั้งเป็นงูเขียว งูดำ หรือแม้แต่ปลาไน ซึ่งบทบาทของเสี่ยวชิงจะมาในรูปแบบของผู้ช่วยที่ใกล้ชิดของไป๋ซู่เจิน อาจเป็นน้องสาว หรือคนรับใช้

การเพิ่มเติมและปรุงแต่ง[แก้]

ตามบันทึกจิ่งซื่อทงเหยียนเดิมงูขาวไม่มีชื่อ แต่ภายหลังมีการเพิ่มชื่อให้เป็น ไป๋ซู่เจิน และตามเนื้อเรื่องดั้งเดิมกล่าวถึงการต่อสู้ระหว่างธรรมะและอธรรม โดยพระเถระเป็นฝ่ายช่วยเหลือบัณฑิตให้พ้นจากการทำอันตรายโดยปิศาจงูขาว ภายหลังมีการดัดแปลงเพิ่มเติมให้เป็นเรื่องของความรักระหว่างมนุษย์และปิศาจ แต่อย่างไรก็ดี เรื่องราวที่ดัดแปลงไปมีหลากหลายแบบ ยกตัวอย่างเช่น
